X-Ray of an Emotional Backbone is a collaboration between me and the artist Nali Neisse. Nali creates wearable one of a kind pieces where she writes personal thoughts and reflexions. My equipment was very simple. I used a Minolta XD, a 50mm 1.4 lens, Kodak Portra 400, natural light and a reflector, mainly playing with textures. What I love about this project is the wide variety of emotions it is able to provoque on people starting philosophical and existencial debates which is the intention of the project.
X-Ray of an Emotional Backbone

This is a project in collaboration with my personal friend and artist Nali Neisse. She creates up-cycle pieces where she writes words and personal texts using red paint. She created this head peace and asked me to take pictures. I immediately started having ideas about compositions and textures. What I love so much about this project is that each person receives it in different ways. Sentiments involved are power, vulnerability, anguish, empowerment, deep emotions, nostalgia... we are both Brazilian women and diaspora artist who love our home country and I think this project reflects a lot of this.
Photographed with Minolta XD 50mm 1.7; Kodak Portra 400.
